Oogheelkundig Fotografie Nederland (OFN)
1974-2007
In 1974 four medical photographers, Albert Aandekerk, Wil Barkmeijer, Dick de Bruijn, and Joop Verhallen, organised a course “practical ophthalmic photography” in the Rotterdam Eye Hospital. A group with a wide diversity responded.
By Gerard de Graaf, 1997 he made the first step by an informal meeting in the UMC in Utrecht to establish an ophthalmic photographers association (UMC, Utrecht; currently working in the Rotterdam Eye Hospital). Later Katinka Emmanouilidis- Van der Spek (LUMC) and Frank Smolders (VUmc) joined in setting up the basis of what became the OFN.
In 2007 the association called ”Oogheelkundige Fotografie Nederland (OFN)” was established with global planning and website; the first chairman was Katinka Emmanouilidis-van der Spek (LUMC, Leiden).
2008-2011
In febrary 2008 was the first OFN Symposium; 2009 the second OFN Symposium and OFN has a new chairman in the person of Patricia van Hilten; 2010 the third OFN Symposium and the first official Albert Aandekerk (‘master of the ophthalmic photographers in the Netherlands”) Ophthalmic Photography and Imaging Competition. September 2010 was the first workshop “Portret, slitlamp, fundus photography and fluorescein angiography (FAG)”; In 2011 the second workshop “Fundus photography and FAG simulation” took place. The third workshop “Fundus-Fag and ICG can only done by participants whose have had the former course or have experiences; 2011 the fourth Symposium will be held at OZR Rotterdam; the Fall Symposium will be at Canon Netherland Amstelveen.
2012
3 February 2012, the first lustrum of OFN, the 5th spring symposium will be held at OZR Rotterdam, March workshop Fundus photography, April workshop Fundus-FAG and ICG, and September workshop OCT will be held.
